Face kiosk

Face kiosk

A shared tablet at the site entrance that recognises employees by face, checks they are really there, and keeps every punch safe when the network drops.

Recognition on the tablet

The kiosk matches faces on the tablet itself, against an encrypted gallery of the people assigned to it.

  • One confident match or no punch, using the match thresholds set on your server.
  • The gallery syncs only what changed, and drops people who are no longer assigned.
  • The tablet stops recognising faces if it is out of contact with the server for too long.

Liveness before every punch

The kiosk checks that a real person is standing in front of it before it looks for a match.

  • A presence and image quality check, then an active challenge: blink, turn or smile.
  • Each organisation sets its own liveness policy.
  • Camera frames are never stored or logged.

Works offline, signs every punch

A dropped connection never loses a punch. Each one is stored and signed on the tablet, then verified by the server.

  • Every punch is written to an encrypted log on the tablet before it is sent.
  • Each punch is signed with a key held in the tablet's secure key store.
  • The server checks the signature, the sequence, the tablet's assignment and the time policy, and a punch sent twice counts once.
  • Trusted time on the tablet, with an alert when its clock is changed.

Enrol once, recognised at every kiosk

HR captures a face once on the web, and it reaches the face kiosks the employee is assigned to.

  • Face capture on the web with a liveness check.
  • Enrolment refuses a face that already belongs to another active employee, and flags it.
  • Consent is recorded, and withdrawing it removes the face from every kiosk.

Set up and run a fleet of kiosks

Kiosks are registered, assigned and watched from the web app.

  • Register a tablet by scanning a single-use QR code that expires after 15 minutes.
  • Assign, transfer, activate or deactivate a kiosk, with the full history kept.
  • A heartbeat shows which kiosks are online, and the server can wake a kiosk with a push message.
  • A locked-down kiosk mode that starts with the tablet and needs a PIN to exit.
